How to Use GEMPLER'S Rust Remover

GEMPLER'S Rust Remover Rust remover restores any rusty iron or steel surface without the hassles of sanding and grinding. Rust remover also eliminates the dangers of using harsh, caustic acids to remove rust.

Prepare the surface Step 1
Prepare the surface by brushing off loose rust and removing any dirt or grease with a wire brush.
Immerse the item Step 2
Immerse the item into an open tank or container (do not use a galvanized container) and soak until de-rusting is complete; 30 minutes to several hours or days depending on the severity of the rust. Occasionally brush off any loose rust particles. For larger items where soaking is not an option, Rust Remover can be brushed onto surfaces, but soaking is a more effective method. To speed up the de-rusting process, heat the solution to around 170°F (but not boiling), and brush away any loose rust sludge every 20 or 30 minutes.
Rinse off Step 3
Rinse the item off with tap water and dry.
Oil with Fluid Film Step 4
The surface is now ready to be painted or lightly oiled (see Fluid Film) to keep free from rust.
Item after Rust Remover Used Process Complete
Rust Remover can be used to de-rust several items until its strength is depleted.
