1. Are Pac boots temperature rated?
Several boot manufacturers, such as Sorel and Baffin, do provide a temperature rating for their boots. We list the rating in our catalog when available. Other manufacturers do not, simply because different temperatures affect people differently. Activity levels, type of sock, a person's circulation, all play a factor. On boots that are not rated, it is best to determine if the amount of insulation is correct for your application and activity level.

2. How is insulation measured?
Typically the higher the number value assigned to the insulation, the warmer the boot will be.  For example, a boot with 400 grams of insulation will be warmer than a boot with 200 grams of insulation.  3M, the manufacturer of Thinsulate, offers the following guidelines for insulation levels based on application and activity level.
200 grams – cool conditions or high activity levels.
400 grams – cold conditions or moderate activity levels.
600 grams – very cold conditions with moderate to light activity levels.
800 grams – for extremely cold conditions with light activity levels.
1000+ grams – for extremely cold conditions with light to minimal activity levels.

3. Are Pac boots available in a steel or protective toe version?
