You had until June 1, 2001 to have
all of your existing trailers retrofitted with DOT
tape. This Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
regulation CFR 393.13 applies to all existing trailers
with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 lbs. and 80" (or
wider) overall width.
This high-power reflective tape greatly enhances
the visibility of trailer borders in low light and
darkness. Using it on box trailers, flatbeds,
livestock/grain haulers and tankers may prevent serious
accidents and cargo damage.
