I purchased the 30" Metro plow from another catalog two winters ago. It did a pretty good job of removing up to 5" of snow from the driveway and cement walkways, with the caveat that after pushing the snow to the edge, a regular shovel was needed to throw the resulting snowpile onto the lawn. The unit couldn't deal with ice and wasn't up to the packed snow that our village snowplows pushed onto the driveway when they plowed the streets. It did about as well as the old-fashioned two-wheeled snowplows on these jobs, but was much easier to store and handle. It was the snow-remover of choice for both my husband and me (we're both reasonably fit seniors, so that will give you an idea of how easy it is to handle).
Then one day while the plow was resting against a fence, something ran into it (probably one of our cairn terriers chasing a rabbit or squarrel) and the polycarbin blade shattered into many pieces. Gemplar's very helpful customer service department said they could order another blade for me, but as it happened I decided to buy one of the 24" aluminum models (192165 and 167850)so that we would have a second plow. The aluminum version is so superior to the polycarbin blade version that I decided to scrap the handle from the broken polycarbin-bladed version and buy a 36" aluminum model instead. The superiority of the aluminum versions is well worth the extra price. If you just need one plow, you can order 167850 (24") or 167852 (36")instead of the 2-pack. You may also want to order a stainless steel scraper (F1226 for 12" width;F1224 for 24" width) as a companion to handle ice.
