TECNU works great if you come in contact with ivy. I'm so allergic that I can get it off of the cat,dog or even off clothing that's been in contact with the poison. If I think I might have come in contact with it, I wash exposed areas with tecnu then with soap and water. If I don't catch it until I actually break out with the rash, I start using it immediately and anytime I feel uncomfortable I use it again. It dries up the rash usually within 24-48 hours.

Applied Tecnu after cutting trees amongst a large quantity of low-growing poison oak. Wiped down my arms, hands, and boots and had no outbreak. Don't know if it was luck or effectiveness but no poison oak!
