I use these for muddy, wet, cold conditions. These type of boots are hard to find. I used to wear this type of boots when I was in elementary school back in the 50's. I also used them in the 80's when I had to help pick-up garbage for a small Iowa community. These are heavy, but they wear well and protect your shoes/work boots and keep your feet warm and dry.

There must be size variation as my 8 1/2 hiking boots could not be forced into size 9 overshoes - inspite of claims made in the catalog description.

I've used a similar pair of boots since 1984(only 10 inches high but insulated). The shift lever broke through the left toe (which I duct taped), the zipper broke on the right boot (which I tied with duct or packing tape) and the soles were almost worn away from use. They kept my feet warm for at least an hour in sub zero riding without heat but were always a struggle to pull over my sneakers. It feels good to have new boots, I tell ya. These are 12 ins. high meaning my pants will not ride up over the top and allow water in and there's no zipper to balk in the middle (I have a high instep).

I purchased these for cool, wet weather use only such as late Fall, early Spring or warmer Winter days. They are easier to put on over rubber-soled shoes/sneakers vs. an insulated pair of boots and adequate until temps really plummet. I purchased a pair of insulated boots for those few days that I really need them - extravagant, for sure, but I think the convenience is worth it.

These boots are great. They fit well and wear well too. I've had the same pair for over two years and they're still going strong!
