I also have a personal weather station atop my house. One of the problems with the weather station is the rain sensor is shallow and sometimes rainfall amounts are inaccurate because blowing rain does not record correctly. This gauge will solve that, and with it all I have to do is adjust the measurements manually into my weather station records.

I received this as a gift and am in love with it, so easy and fun my 3 year old can do it (if I were to let him). The large numbers on it are easy to read from in the house. The overflow feature assures me that I won't miss any water from my measurements. I am thrilled to use this as a tool for teaching my son about nature!

The dove-tail slide mount needs a Vee guide to help alignment at start of re-installation. De-burring the leading edges of the dove-tail with a fine file helps significantly.

Otherwise the unit is excellent.

This is an officially recognized rain recording instrument. It is very easy to read and can handle a large amount of precipitation in a 24 hr period (11"). It is constructed very well. All parts are replaceable individually, it is built to resist UV damage over a long period. Mine is over 12 months old in direct sunlight and still looks like the day I unpacked it.
