I bought these braces because the ones that came with my chest waders (which I commented upon very favorably earlier) utilize brass wire loops to engage the suspender buttons on the top. Unfortunately, one of the buttons sheared off when the loop fastener caught it the wrong way, and it was several weeks before I could find a suitable replacement for the lost button. The leather button loops on these braces eliminate that risk, and are working out just fine; and the leather is heavy enough to carry the shear forces without tearing. The shoulder straps are equally heavy-duty, and I was surprised that they were elastic as well. My only adverse comment was that the transverse tie at the back was not adjustable, but that's more a matter of personal preference than a problem. I went "marshing" last weekend in the Yolo Bypass near Sacramento, and even with the heavy, sticky mud there, things worked out perfectly. Bottom line, these waders suspenders are good value for the money.
