Mount your owl in a low light area. No self respecting owl sits out in direct sunlight for extended periods. Our bobble head owl is mounted high under a patio roof shaded from the sun. Pesky woodpeckers have not gone near the roof since placing 'Oliver Owl' under the roof.

I had several woodpeckers attacking one side of my house. I tried taste deterrents, shiny streamers...neither worked. As soon as I started to use the owl, the birds went. They did come back, but after moving the owl to different spots several times a week for several weeks, they have not returned.

I now have four bobble-head owls around my house. The first two worked great in deturing the birds to nest on my new house. A wind storm blew one owl off the back deck and the head cracked. All I was seeking was a replacement head, but Gempler's sent me a complete new owl at no charge at all. I'm impressed to say the least!!! I'm sold on Gempler's!!!

We built a new home smack-dab in the middle of the bird's habitat...we invaded their space! We felt the owls would be a humane way to keep them from building nests in our gutters and other places; droppings on our deck...
Within that first day they saw those owls with the bobble-heads they have changed their flight patterns around the house. The owls work beautifully.
Filling them with sand is rather tricky. The smaller wholes in the owl structure makes it hard to refill. On a scale of 100, I'd give them a 98% score. I'm going to buy two more for the front of the house!
