This innovative, long-range rain collector/gauge is self-emptying and provides cumulative and daily precipitation totals for up to nine days, all without any wiring. Long-range capability allows the collector to be placed up to 300 ft. from the main unit. The clear, easy to read LCD screen shows daily up to 999.99" and cumulative rainfall up to 99.99", indoor temperature from 23-122°F and time of day. Records and saves cumulative and daily totals for up to nine days in inches or centimeters. Rainfall resolution 0.04 inch and temperature resolution 0.2°F. Main unit and remote sensing unit each require two "AA" batteries. Outdoor temperature sensor range is -4° to 158°F when using alkaline batteries and -38° to 158°F when using lithium batteries. I bought this same gauge about 5-6 years ago (boy they haven't changed in looks) and it has been absolutely bulletproof. I live in northern NJ with cold winters and hot summers and battery lasts about 6 months and unit itself has worked perfectly 24/7 365. Unbelievably accurate (I occasionally validate its reading with a local WeatherBug station on-line) and a great asset when coming home from work or waking up in the morning and determining how much rain fell for lawn and garden watering purposes. I don't remember this being so expensive but the unit is really a great product and as I said it keeps going...and going. Only bummer is changing the batteries on the outdoor unit (many mini screws to remove and replace---tip --->don't try this after a few beers)
