I have three hundred and fifteen eastern red cedar trees that I have used these spikes on for the last seven years. I built an aluminum spike that is just a little bit bigger than the fertilizer spike that I can push into the ground like a shovel so it makes it an easy job. (my wife, two kids and I can do all of them in about two hours) I only use one spike per tree, just to give them a little boost in the spring. Great Product!!!!!!!

used a cordless drill and a old large wood bit to drill a hole and then pounded the stake in. They did not bust up when doing this.
