Straight Blade Nursery Spade w/ D-handle

Item No: DH15SB

Product
Information

Nursery spade has superior prying strength

  • Nursery spade blade easily cuts through hard, compacted soil
  • Reinforced blade eliminates flexing
  • USA made

Heavy-duty hardened steel alloy construction outlasts wood and fiberglass. 11-gauge steel blade has closed back for extra reinforcement and to eliminate buildup. Mill-sharpened blade easily cuts through soil and has a cushion footpad that can be moved from one side to the other for better digging leverage. D-handle is 27" and welded to the 15" blade, which tapers from 7-1/4" at the top to 6-1/4" at the bottom. Overall length 42". USA made.

Comments about Straight Blade Nursery Spade w/ D-handle:

I bought it mainly for burying underground wires and root pruning. It was a supprise how heavy it was the first time I picked it up. This is what I want in a trenching shovel-let the tool do the work.I am concerned about the weld between the handle and the blade. It's a good weld, but my concern is with constant use as a lever the weld will break. I bought this to replace an ACE Hardware shovel when the blade folded in 1/2 the first time I jumped on it to prune some roots. I've always bought Razorback shovels in the past so I'm used to the forged one piece construction. [...] I expect them to simply based on the price.
