I bought this to replace an earlier, identical one that had lasted >5 years. With this gauge I can estimate rainfall to 0.01", for my daily records of rainfall and high/low temp. (Useful for farm planning.) It does a good job of catching snowfalls as well--many other designs let the snow blow out, so when I melt them inside my actual precip measurement is skewed or low.
The mount is okay, but weakens and wind-shatters after a few years. I improvised another mount to replace the broken one, a cone the wind wouldn't jiggle, but then the gauge froze into it. Extracting it, I managed to crack the gauge, and then it would leak.
Local farm suppliers used to give out these gauges to their good customers. Since my previous ones came for free, the price on this one seemed high. But it definitely has features that make me like it better than other designs.
