This simple-to-operate soil moisture probe gives reliable readings from 3.5 to 7.0 pH and water moisture from 0-100%. Probe operates through natural electric charge generated from soil through the metal side plates on the probe (no batteries to replace). To take a measurement, insert probe into soil, wait 3 minutes and take readings. Accurate to ±.2 on pH and ±10% on moisture. Includes instructions and carry case. Requires conditioning film (Item No. 221176) to clean side plates.

The pH meter works fine but the moisture meter seems inaccurate to me. It always reads "moist" even a week after watering (come one now, anyone who's grown plants before knows the soil doesn't stay moist for that long)

This meter is rugged, well-designed and accurate. Its integral moisture meter is a most important feature because PH varies with moisture content of the soil. By confirming that the desired soil moisture is present during the PH reading, the accuracy and repeatability of the PH readings can be assurred and correlated to the typical soil moisture the gardener intends to maintain for the plant bed being evaluated.
