Just push the 13"L tines into the ground with your foot and pull back on the handles.     My beds are double dug to 18 inches and ammended, the rocks have been removed. This lightened the soil, allowed me to add ammendments me and to pull the weeds to prep for planting in one day! I have 16 4'x8' beds. I am already planting portions of the garden. It is not too heavy for a 56 yr old woman to use. I LOVE that it is AMERICAN made. I have already recommended it to three friends and have had it about a week.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
