Skunk Trap

Trap skunks . . . without the stink!

  • Safe and humane
  • Simple to set

Catch and release skunks without getting sprayed! The low-profile design of this trap prevents the skunk from lifting its tail once inside, eliminating its ability to emit odorous spray. Simply place cat food, peanut butter, sardines or fish-scented baits in the trap as an attractant. The skunk will then cross an infrared beam upon entering, triggering closure of the entry door and ensuring capture. The smooth interior, compact design and darkened conditions keep the animal calm and safe. Skunks typically take 15 to 20 minutes to exit once the release door is opened. Trap is also effective on squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and more. Requires four “AA” batteries (not included). Imported.

NOTE: Do not submerge trap in water.

DOES NOT WORK!!

By Frank, the pest guy

Comments about Skunk Trap:

I bought 2 traps. The beam did not work on one. The plunger on the 2nd trap that trips the door does not extend far enough. A few times it would it would trip but hang up on the hold-open bracket. The other times it would not even move the release bracket at all.

Comments about Skunk Trap:

Like the other reviews, I used this trap once , worked fine. Tryed using it for a secondtime and the light beam wouldn"t work. I properly stored the trap out of the weather when not in use and took out the batteries. The trap is junk.

Comments about Skunk Trap:

This review is meant to replace the one I submitted yesterday. I'm not sure why I gave 4 stars to a product that only gave me one use.
The trap is beautifully built. It's very easy to set - without the heavy-duty spring-loaded door that always mashes my hands when I try to load it. The release door for the animal is great, and you can load the bait through it, which is nice. I caught a possum and the release door worked fine.
Now the problem. The animal was frightened and it defecated and smeared feces all over the inside of the trap. It HAD to be cleaned. It stunk to high heaven, it made my dog as crazy as an actual possum, and I doubt that another animal would have entered with that smell. I did not submerge the trap, but I had to use water to get it clean. Either I got water on the infrared beam device, or it was too fragile for the handling, but it no longer works.
It's true that it would cost me $250 to get a professional trapper to set up a trap and remove one animal and $75 per subsequent animal, so I could buy quite a few of these single-use traps before the cost exceeded that of a professional trapper. But that's too much trouble and so wasteful.
