Description

Fruit penetrometer tests ripeness of small, soft fruits

A fruit hardness tester, also known as a fruit penetrometer, is used to determine the ideal harvest and shipping times for many different types of fruits. Fruit firmness is the universally accepted measure of ripeness, and this unit measures the force required to push a plunger tip into the pulp of small, soft fruits. Digital hardness tester is easy to use and gives force readings in kilograms, pounds, newtons or pascals. Features automatic shutoff and hard carrying case. Requires four AAA batteries (not included). 8"L x 2-3/8"W x 13/16"H. Weighs 8.1 oz. Imported.
NOTE: Contact your local land grant university or extension service for optimal fruit hardness readings in your area.
