Item No: 151509

Product
Information

Repels troublesome geese with their natural enemy

  • Effective in land or in water

Mute swans aggressively protect their young from Canada geese, making this swan an effective deterrent as part of an overall repellent strategy. Head and neck can be adjusted for a realistic look. Plastic decoy may be free floated, or secured in the water with string or decoy weights. May also be secured on shore with two steel anchoring stakes (included). Decoy should be moved periodically to increase effectiveness and used with other deterrent methods. 33"Lx18"Wx19"H. Imported.

I had a pair of ducks that decided my pool was a fabulous place to swim. I couldn't keep the ducks away. I used a pair of these swans to float around in my swimming pool. I haven't seen these ducks since. I am not sure if they decided to move on, or if these new swans were effective in keeping these ducks out of the pool. Either way, the goal was to keep the ducks from my pool and so far I haven't seen them since my new swans arrived. I plan on putting them in my pool as soon as the cover is off. I might even keep staked in my yard for the fall and winter to keep the Canada Geese from my yard.

I thought the swan would be a good idea to inhibit the proliferation of geese on our property. From the first moment we put the swan out, the geese came right up to it as though it was their new good friend.
We're very sorry it wasn't successful.

        Comments about Mute Swan Decoy:

I have a 3/4 acre pond with the same common goose problems that most pond owners have. I bought the Swan decoy and augmented with a "dead" goose decoy. I am sitting here watching the geese swim 'round and 'round my pond looking for a good place to nest. While I have tried many humane remedies to keep these fecal beasts away from crapping up my entire lawn, I am convinced the only effective method is flying lead.

            Comments about Mute Swan Decoy:

I have horses and 2 two-acre fields. There is a 5 acre pond nearby and I have a small one. I move the swans around every day in one field. Worked for the first few days. Yesterday I had to chase geese out. Even though I move the decoys, I think the geese figure it out when they don't hear any noise or see the flapping wings. But they are pretty in the field or pond none the less. Just have to keep them away from the horses or they will permanently be in pieces. The would make good horse toys for about a minute so they are only in one field and I only have 2 swans. Too expensive for a piece of molded painted plastic. Not sure how effective they wiill be in the long run. Jury still out on that.

Cute, easy to use - and did not scare my geese. Tightly stringing fishing line across the lawn worked.
