I bought this jacket to wear while riding on my bike in the winter and the dark. I wanted to be more visible to drivers, so they could avoid me. It works great for this purpose. I know this isn't the usual use for these jackets but I recommend it to all my friends who ride in the winter or dark. I feel much safer in this jacket than I do in any other.

It's breatheable enough so that I don't get sweaty while cycling. It's got good wind resistance and keeps me dry in the snow. The elastic at the wrists is a nice touch too, keeps the wind from blowing up my sleeves. With a fleece or sweater underneath, I'm warm enough to cycle in nearly any weather, down to nearly zero F.

In short, this jacket is great at being a jacket, in addition to keeping me safe and visible.

I bought this jacket from Gemplers about 3 years ago and it is useless for what i intended it. I work outdoors for the county road dept. I normally cut down hazard trees near the roads and have got soaked in this jacket at least 20 times. I bought the matching pvc pants and they work great. Only buy the pvc type if you want waterproof. This jacket is rugged in thick brush, but only resists water for about 15 minutes. I work in very harsh conditions and it did not perform. I am outside working during storms cleaning up downed trees and after tornados as well in the hard rain. I also do a bit of asphalt work and the jacket is nearly impossible to clean oil off of. Dont buy for rain use!!!

i work in maintenance of the track department of a railroad company and i work outside in all kinds of bad weather and this coat has performed very well in heavy rain, snow, sleet.the only drawback is oil and grease stain the material and it doesn't come out the stains do lighten up if you use a pretreatment in your wash.
